Seal the Deal: Innovative field-testing methods for watertight roofing and waterproofing installations
As the roofing and waterproofing industries continue to evolve, so too are the various field-testing technologies used to assess the quality of work and diagnose suspected issues. These technologies are nuanced and are frequently misunderstood and/or misrepresented. In this discussion we will describe the various available technologies and discuss their proper specification and application. The focus of this discussion will be limited to testing roofing and waterproofing membrane systems for watertightness.
Learning Objectives:
After participating in this interactive moderated panel, the attendee will:
- Understand the purpose for field testing of roofing or waterproofing systems
- Identify the difference in testing approaches between new construction versus a forensic investigation
- Learn to identify and understand historic and contemporary quality control techniques
- Review the limitations of
these testing methods and how it fits into the overall installation process.
